This database shows volatile organic compound (VOC) emission rates from two 3D printing
technologies using various materials. Fuse filament fabrication (FFF) 3D printing heats and
extrudes materials, typically thermoplastics, to build a part. Stereolithography (SLA) 3D printing
cures photopolymer resins with a light source to build a part, which typically needs washing and
curing post-processes. Emissions were characterized by CIRI according to ANSI/CAN/UL 2904.
Emissions of specific VOCs from different printing conditions can be compared using this tool.
More emission data can be found
here.
Note: ABS= acrylonitrile butadiene styrene; ASA= acrylonitrile styrene acrylate; HIPS= high
impact polystyrene; METAL= metal composites; PC= polycarbonate; PETG= polyethylene
terephthalate glycol; PLA= polylactic acid; PVA= polyvinyl alcohol.
Detection frequency was calculated based on all 70 studied print runs.
